Abstract

Abstract. The increasing dominance of Generation Z in the workforce has encouraged organizations to understand the characteristics of prospective employees before they enter the labor market. From the perspective of Human Resource Planning (HRP), understanding individual characteristics is essential to support recruitment and selection processes. This study aims to examine the work preference factor structure of final-year Generation Z students in Bandung based on the Work Preference Indicator (WPI). This study employed a quantitative approach using Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA). The sample consisted of 380 final-year Generation Z students in Bandung selected through purposive sampling. The research instrument was adapted from the Work Preference Indicator (WPI), comprising 75 statement items. Data were analyzed using SmartPLS 4. The results showed that all work preference factors were categorized as appropriate, with Flexibility obtaining the highest mean score. CFA confirmed that work preferences consisted of four dimensions—Learning Styles, Work Values, Work Interests, and Personality Temperament—comprising 17 work preference factors. After measurement model modification, 19 indicators met the criteria for factor loading, convergent validity, construct reliability, and discriminant validity. The findings support the relevance of Human Resource Planning (HRP) and Person–Organization Fit (P–O Fit) in explaining the work preferences of final-year Generation Z students.
