Abstract

Abstract. Relationships with friends are important for adolescents, especially adolescents in residential care. For two years, they were required to lockdown due to the pandemic and now they are required to adapt back to normal life. This study is a longitudinal study comparing friendship satisfaction and subjective well-being (SWB) of adolescents in residential care during and after the COVID-19 pandemic. During the pandemic, there was a significant difference between the first year pandemic and the second year pandemic. Orphanage adolescents are more well-being in the first year of the pandemic. The sample selected in this study is the same sample as the previous study. Respondents of this study (N = 74; 66.2% female and 33.8% male). The sampling technique used was cluster random sampling. The measurement tools were friendship satisfaction from Children's World and CW-SWBS5. The compare means paired sample t-test analysis was used to see whether or not there were differences in friendship satisfaction and SWB during and after the COVID-19 pandemic. As a result, SWB during (M = 74.00) and after the COVID-19 pandemic (M = 74.32) showed no significant difference (M = -.324) with a significant (.894 > .05). Friendship satisfaction and friendship factors also did not show a significant difference where all significant values were more than .05 (p > .05).
