Abstract

Abstract.

Work-family conflict is a form of interrole conflict in the form of an incompatibility between the conflicting demands of work and family roles. Work-family conflict has an impact on low employee performance which can affect company productivity and also has a direct impact on employees, because it can cause stress. Greenhaus & Beutell (1985) stated that social support can reduce the demands of certain roles or be able to create a work-family balance. The purpose of this study was to determine how much influence social support had on work-family conflict among married female nurses at Bandung City General Hospital. The research method used is causality with a total of 63 married female nurses as subjects. This study uses the work-family conflict scale designed by Carlson et al., (2000) and the social support measure from Parasuraman et al., (1992). The results of the study found that 98.4% of female nurses had high social support and 79.4% of female nurses had low work-family conflict. The effect of social support on work-family conflict in this study was 40.4% and the biggest influence on work-family conflict was the social support of a partner of 30.6%.
