Hubungan Loneliness dengan Social Comparsion pada Remaja Akhir Pengguna Instagram
Abstract
Abstract. The use of Instagram in late teens allows users to make social comparisons. In general, Instagram only displays a positive life which makes people who see posts on Instagram feel that their lives are not as perfect as the lives of their friends and end up doing social comparisons. One of the factors for someone to do social comparison is loneliness. The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between loneliness and social comparison in late adolescent Instagram users. The research method used is correlational quantitative. The subjects in this study were 324 late adolescent Instagram users in Bandung. The measuring instrument used is the UCLA Loneliness Scale Version 3 which was developed by Rusell (1996) and adapted by Hudiyana et al., (2022) to measure loneliness and the Iowa-Netherlands Comparison Orientation Measure (INCOM) from Bunk and Gibbons (1999) which has been adapted by Putra (2018) to measure social comparison. This study uses multiple linear regression analysis techniques. The value of the regression equation obtained is Y1 = 6.848 and Y2 = 7.058, which means that loneliness contributes positively to social comparison. The results of the calculation of R square are ability 0.138 and opinion 0.056, which means that loneliness contributes 13.8% with social comparison ability. And loneliness contributes 5.6% with social comparison opinion. The results of this study show a significant relationship between loneliness and social comparison in late adolescent Instagram users. the significance value in this study was 0.000 <0.05, which is positive. This means that this research means that the higher the feeling of loneliness, the higher the social comparison behavior.
