Abstract. This study aimed to determine the effect of sensation seeking on alcohol use among university students in Bandung City. Alcohol use among university students is a risk behavior that continues to increase, yet research on the underlying psychological factors, particularly sensation seeking, remains very limited in the Indonesian context. This study used a quantitative approach with a simple linear regression design. A total of 128 university students in Bandung City who had consumed alcohol at least once in the past three months were selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using the Brief Sensation Seeking Scale (BSSS) to measure sensation seeking and the Alcohol Use Disorders Identification Test (AUDIT) to measure alcohol use. Results showed that 74.2% of respondents fell into the high sensation-seeking category, and 66.4% fell into the possible alcohol dependence category. Regression analysis showed that sensation seeking had a significant effect on alcohol use (p = 0.000), with a positive regression coefficient (B = 1.595). The R Square value of 0.349 indicated that sensation seeking contributed 34.9% to the variation in alcohol use, while the remaining 65.1% was influenced by other factors. Thus, the research hypothesis was accepted: the higher the sensation seeking of university students, the higher their level of alcohol use.
