Cinta di Era Algoritma: Tinjauan Naratif pada Fenomena Fictophilia

Abstract. The rapid advancement of digital technology has intensified interactions with fictional characters, giving rise to fictophilia, a strong emotional and/or sexual attraction toward fictional characters. Despite growing scholarly interest, empirical evidence on its psychological impacts remains limited. This study reviewed empirical research on the psychological impacts of fictophilia using a narrative literature review based on Ferrari's framework. Literature was searched in Google Scholar, Springer Nature, and ScienceDirect. Articles were screened using predefined inclusion and exclusion criteria with Rayyan AI and synthesized thematically. Of 86 identified articles, four empirical studies met the inclusion criteria. The findings indicate that fictophilia is associated with attachment dynamics, influences romantic partner preferences, and may provide emotional closeness while partially fulfilling affective needs. However, relationships with fictional characters cannot replace the reciprocity, trust, and commitment found in human relationships. Evidence regarding the role of fictophilia in emotion regulation and coping also remains limited, highlighting the need for further research
Abstrak. Perkembangan teknologi digital telah meningkatkan intensitas interaksi individu dengan karakter fiksi sehingga memunculkan fenomena fictophilia, yaitu ketertarikan emosional dan/atau seksual yang kuat terhadap karakter fiksi. Meskipun semakin banyak dikaji, bukti empiris mengenai dampak psikologis fictophilia masih terbatas dan tersebar pada berbagai jenis media. Penelitian ini bertujuan meninjau penelitian terkait dampak psikologis fictophilia melalui pendekatan narrative literature review. Penelitian menggunakan metode narrative literature review dengan kerangka Ferrari. Pencarian literatur dilakukan melalui Google Scholar, Springer Nature, dan ScienceDirect. Artikel diseleksi berdasarkan kriteria inklusi dan eksklusi menggunakan Rayyan AI, kemudian disintesis secara tematik. Dari 86 artikel yang diidentifikasi, empat artikel empiris memenuhi seluruh kriteria dan dianalisis dalam tinjauan ini. Hasil sintesis menunjukkan bahwa fictophilia berkaitan dengan dinamika kelekatan, mempengaruhi preferensi pasangan romantis, serta berpotensi memberikan pengalaman kedekatan emosional dan memenuhi sebagian kebutuhan afektif. Meskipun demikian, hubungan dengan karakter fiksi belum mampu menggantikan aspek relasional yang bergantung pada resiprositas, kepercayaan, dan komitmen dalam hubungan antarmanusia. Selain itu, bukti empiris mengenai peran fictophilia dalam regulasi emosi dan coping masih terbatas sehingga memerlukan penelitian lebih lanjut yang menguji kedua aspek tersebut secara langsung.
