Pengalaman Hidup Emerging Adulthood dengan HIV Perinatal: Narrative Review

Abstract. Individuals with perinatal HIV face various challenges from birth through adolescence and emerging adulthood, which are related not only to their health status but also to their psychosocial development and quality of life. This study aims to understand the life experiences of individuals with perinatal HIV through a narrative review to gain a more comprehensive understanding of their challenges, coping strategies, and psychosocial needs. The research method employed a narrative review of qualitative articles obtained through a search of several electronic databases covering the publication years 2021–2026. The synthesis results indicate that individuals with perinatal HIV face stigma and dilemmas regarding HIV status disclosure, various psychosocial challenges, and the pressure to become independent during the transition to adulthood. Support from family, peers, and healthcare providers serves as a protective factor that aids the adaptation process. These experiences help shape motivation, self-acceptance, and resilience, enabling individuals to maintain hope and view the future more positively. These findings highlight the importance of HIV services that not only focus on clinical aspects but also address psychosocial needs to support the quality of life of individuals with perinatal HIV.
Abstrak. Individu dengan HIV perinatal menghadapi berbagai tantangan sejak lahir hingga memasuki masa remaja dan emerging adulthood, yang tidak hanya berkaitan dengan kondisi kesehatan, tetapi juga perkembangan psikososial dan kualitas hidup. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memahami pengalaman hidup individu dengan HIV perinatal melalui narrative review untuk memperoleh pemahaman yang lebih komprehensif mengenai tantangan, strategi adaptasi, dan kebutuhan psikososial mereka. Metode penelitian menggunakan narrative review terhadap artikel kualitatif yang diperoleh melalui penelusuran pada beberapa basis data elektronik dengan rentang publikasi tahun 2021–2026. Hasil sintesis menunjukkan bahwa individu dengan HIV perinatal menghadapi stigma dan dilema dalam pengungkapan status HIV, berbagai tantangan psikososial, serta tuntutan untuk menjadi mandiri selama transisi menuju dewasa. Dukungan dari keluarga, teman sebaya, dan tenaga kesehatan berperan sebagai faktor protektif yang membantu proses adaptasi. Berbagai pengalaman tersebut turut membentuk motivasi, penerimaan diri, dan resiliensi sehingga individu mampu mempertahankan harapan serta memandang masa depan secara lebih positif. Temuan ini menunjukkan pentingnya layanan HIV yang tidak hanya berfokus pada aspek klinis, tetapi juga memperhatikan kebutuhan psikososial untuk mendukung kualitas hidup individu dengan HIV perinatal.
