Abstract. New migrant college students face a transitional phase requiring simultaneous academic, social, and emotional adjustment. Separation from family and their home environment reduces routine social support, increasing vulnerability to loneliness, which in turn affects psychological well-being. However, not all students with high loneliness levels experience an equivalent decline in psychological well-being; some remain psychologically resilient, indicating other factors that strengthen or weaken this relationship. This study examines the role of perceived social support as a moderator in the effect of loneliness on psychological well-being among new migrant college students in Bandung City. This research uses a quantitative approach with a causal-moderation design. A total of 385 respondents were selected through convenience sampling. Measurements used the UCLA Loneliness Scale (Russell, 1996), the Ryff Psychological Well-Being Short Scale (Ryff, 1989), and the Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (Zimet et al., 1988). Data were analyzed using SEM-PLS via SmartPLS 4. Results show loneliness significantly affects psychological well-being (β = -0.437; p < 0.001), perceived social support significantly affects psychological well-being (β = 0.510; p < 0.001), and perceived social support was found to significantly to moderate by weakening the influence of loneliness on psychological well-being (β = -0.085; p = 0.008).
Sebanyak 385 responden dipilih melalui convenience sampling. Pengukuran menggunakan UCLA Loneliness Scale (Russell, 1996), Ryff Psychological Well-Being Short Scale (Ryff, 1989), dan Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (Zimet et al., 1988). Analisis data menggunakan SEM-PLS melalui SmartPLS 4. Hasil menunjukkan loneliness berpengaruh signifikan terhadap psychological well-being (β = -0,437; p < 0,001), perceived social support berpengaruh signifikan terhadap psychological well-being (β = 0,510; p < 0,001), serta perceived social support terbukti signifikan memoderasi dengan memperlemah pengaruh loneliness terhadap psychological well-being (β = -0,085; p = 0,008).
