Abstract. Emotional fatherlessness has become an increasingly important topic in developmental psychology because it reflects the lack of emotional involvement of fathers in parenting. This condition may affect not only emotional development but also individuals' ability to establish healthy interpersonal relationships. This study aimed to examine differences in interpersonal sensitivity between male and female university students experiencing emotional fatherlessness. A quantitative comparative study with a cross-sectional design was conducted involving 170 university students aged 18–25 years who met the criteria for emotional fatherlessness based on the Nurturant Fathering Scale (NFS). Interpersonal sensitivity was measured using the Interpersonal Sensitivity Measure (IPSM). Data were analysed using descriptive statistics and an independent sample t-test. The findings revealed a significant difference in interpersonal sensitivity between male and female students with emotional fatherlessness (p = 0.035). Female students demonstrated higher interpersonal sensitivity than male students. These findings indicate that inadequate emotional involvement of fathers may influence psychosocial development differently across genders. The results are expected to contribute to psychoeducational programmes highlighting the importance of fathers' emotional involvement and to support the development of gender-sensitive psychological interventions.
