Abstract. Early adult women who are involuntarily single often experience psychological and social problems that affect their psychological well-being. Involuntarily single women may experience loneliness, negative self-perceptions, negative social stereotypes, and psychological distress resulting from their single status. One factor that is presumed to contribute to psychological well-being is self-compassion, which refers to an individual's ability to treat themselves with kindness and compassion while facing difficulties or failures. This study aimed to examine the effect of self-compassion on psychological well-being among early adult women who are involuntarily single. This study used a quantitative approach using a causal research design. The participants were 391 early adult women selected using a convenience sampling technique. Data were collected using the Self-Compassion Scale and Ryff's Psychological Well-Being Scale. The results showed that self-compassion had a positive effect on psychological well-being (p < .001, R² = .414). The results indicate that self-compassion contributed 41.4% to psychological well-being. These findings suggest that lower levels of self-compassion are associated with lower levels of psychological well-being among involuntarily single early adult women in Bandung.
