Abstract. Working young adults face demands that require adequate emotion regulation, yet many respond to workplace pressure with maladaptive patterns such as emotional suppression. Self-compassion is theorized to support adaptive emotion regulation, while resilience is often assumed to strengthen this relationship. This study examined the effect of self-compassion on emotion regulation among working young adults (aged 18-40), and tested whether resilience moderates this relationship. A quantitative correlational design was used, involving 551 working young adults selected through non-probability sampling. Data were collected using the Self-Compassion Scale, the Emotion Regulation Questionnaire, and the Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale, all in validated Indonesian adaptations. Data were processed through reverse scoring, Method of Successive Interval transformation, and analyzed using Moderated Regression Analysis. Results showed that self-compassion had a significant positive effect on emotion regulation (B = 0.167, p < 0.001). However, resilience did not significantly moderate this relationship (ΔR² = 0.001, p = 0.351), although it showed a significant main effect. These findings suggest self-compassion is a robust predictor of emotion regulation regardless of resilience level, and highlight the statistical difficulty of detecting interaction effects in field research.
