Abstract

Abstract. Job insecurity refers to employees' perceptions of threats to the continuity of their employment, which may affect job performance. This study aimed to examine the effect of job insecurity on job performance and to investigate the moderating role of psychological capital among employees of Company X. This study employed a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design. The sample consisted of 129 employees selected using a purposive sampling technique. Data were collected using the Job Insecurity Scale, the Individual Work Performance Questionnaire (IWPQ), and the Psychological Capital Questionnaire (PCQ-24). Data were analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) with SmartPLS 4. The results indicated that job insecurity had a significant negative effect on job performance, suggesting that higher levels of job insecurity were associated with lower job performance. However, psychological capital did not significantly moderate the relationship between job insecurity and job performance. These findings indicate that job insecurity is an important factor influencing job performance, whereas psychological capital did not function as a moderator of this relationship among employees of Company X.
