Pengaruh Loneliness terhadap Online Disinhibition: HEXACO’s Personality sebagai Moderator
Abstract
Abstract. Loneliness is a condition where individuals feel psychological discomfort due to feelings of dissatisfaction in social interactions or relationships. High levels of loneliness in social media users increase the phenomenon of online disinhibition effect, this phenomenon occurs when individuals show less inhibited behaviour in online interactions compared to face-to-face interactions. The HEXACO personality aspects, which include Honesty-Humility, Emotionality, Extraversion, Agreeableness, Conscientiousness, and Openness to Experience, are used to understand how personality differences can moderate the relationship between loneliness and online disinhibition effect. Quantitative methods were used in this study involving 412 social media user respondents. The instruments used include the UCLA Loneliness Scale Version 3, the Online disinhibition effect scale, and the Brief HEXACO Inventory (BHI) scale. Data analysis was conducted using moderation regression to test the research hypothesis. The results showed that loneliness has a significant influence on the online disinhibition effect. The results of moderating regression analysis show that loneliness has an influence of 18.7% on online disinhibition. Individuals who feel lonely show more disinhibited behaviour in their online interactions. In addition, the HEXACO personality aspect moderates the relationship between loneliness and online disinhibition.
