Abstract

Abstract. Dating violence is an increasing phenomenon and a global concern. This study aims to understand the role of attachment style in increasing individuals' vulnerability to dating violence. Using the scoping review method, this research analyzes 9  relevant articles published between 2014 and 2024. The findings indicate that individuals with insecure attachment, particularly anxious attachment and avoidant attachment, are more susceptible to becoming victims of violence. Anxious attachment is associated with high emotional dependence and an excessive fear of rejection, making it difficult for victims to leave unhealthy relationships. Meanwhile, avoidant attachment increases the risk of violence due to a tendency to avoid conflict and tolerate abusive behavior. The impact of such violence includes psychological disorders such as depression, anxiety, PTSD, and social isolation. This study highlights the importance of psychosocial interventions and education on healthy attachment to prevent dating violence and assist victims in building safer and more supportive relationships in the future.
