Abstract

Abstract. The event of parental divorce has an impact on various aspects of the child: such as the child's perception, emotions, and behavior. There is a change in the way of looking, either at oneself or at parents. The presence of feelings of anger, disappointment, sadness, low self-esteem, etc., causes the child to become angry and resentful towards the parents or one of the parents. Divorce events that affect thoughts and feelings can then continue to revolve in the head (rumination), and can then affect internalizing and externalizing behaviors (Brenning et al., 2022). The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of rumination on forgiveness in broken home adolescents in Bandung Regency. This research design uses causality, and a non-experimental quantitative approach. The subjects in this study were adolescents with both biological parents experiencing divorce. The measuring instrument used is the RRS-10 which has been adapted into Indonesian by Cleopatra Yusainy (Yusainy, 2017), and the TRIM-18 measuring instrument which has been adapted into Indonesian by Iko Maidiarko (Maidiarko, 2020). The data analysis method used is simple linear regression, with a significance result of 0.000, meaning that there is an influence of rumination on forgiveness in broken home adolescents in Bandung Regency. The results of this study indicate that rumination has an influence contribution to forgiveness of 67.2%.
