Abstract

Abstract. The phenomenon of social media has become an integral part of teenagers' lives, particularly in Bandung, with significant potential to influence body image and psychological well-being. This study aims to uncover the relationship between online social support and body image among teenagers. Using a quantitative approach and correlational design, 150 teenagers aged 15–18 years who are active social media users in Bandung participated as respondents. Data were collected through questionnaires measuring aspects of online social support and body image and analyzed using SEM-PLS. The results show that most teenagers have a positive body image (73.3%), while online social support is categorized as low (73.3%). Statistical analysis revealed a significant relationship between online social support and body image (p < 0.05), with online social support explaining 76.1% of the variation in body image. These findings emphasize the importance of fostering a supportive digital environment to enhance teenagers’ self-acceptance. Positive online social support, such as encouraging comments or likes, can strengthen a healthy body image, while negative interactions tend to diminish positive body perceptions.
