Abstract
Abstract. The development of social media has had a direct impact on society, particularly on younger generations. One of the most popular social networking platforms today is Instagram. However, Instagram is considered to have a negative influence on young people, especially by fostering feelings of inadequacy and dissatisfaction with their lives or the lives they aspire to. This phenomenon is referred to as the fear of missing out (FoMO). This study examines the impact of emotion regulation on the fear of missing out among university students who use Instagram at Universitas Islam Bandung. The hypothesis of the study posits that emotion regulation significantly influences the fear of missing out among Instagram users at Universitas Islam Bandung. The findings reveal that emotion regulation has an influence on the fear of missing out, with an R-value of 0.007. This indicates that the emotion regulation variable does not have a substantial contribution, accounting for only 0.7% of the fear of missing out.
