Pengaruh Loneliness terhadap Adiksi Media Sosial pada Remaja Pengguna TikTok
Abstract
Abstract. The use of social media among teenagers has increased in recent years, with TikTok being one of the most popular platforms. However, excessive use can lead to social media addiction, where users struggle to control and limit their activity. This may stem from feelings of loneliness when teens cannot meet their social and emotional needs. This study aims to examine the effect of loneliness on social media addiction among TikTok users, using a quantitative research method with a causal effect design. The UCLA Loneliness Scale Version 3 is used to measure loneliness, while the Social Media Disorder (SMD) scale assesses social media addiction. The sample for this study consists of 122 TikTok users, with data analysis using binary logistic regression, which resulted in a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05, indicating that loneliness has a significant influence on social media addiction among TikTok users. The R2 value of 0.177 shows that loneliness contributes 17.7% to social media addiction. This study concludes that loneliness is one of the factors triggering social media addiction among TikTok users in Bandung City, highlighting the need for strategies to address loneliness and support healthy social media usage.
Abstrak. Penggunaan media sosial di kalangan remaja telah mengalami peningkatan dalam beberapa tahun terakhir, dengan TikTok menjadi salah satu platform yang sangat populer. Namun, penggunaan yang berlebihan dan tidak terkendali dapat mengarah pada adiksi media sosial, ditandai dengan kesulitan mengontrol dan digunakan secara berlebihan. Hal ini dapat dilatarbelakangi oleh kondisi remaja yang merasakan loneliness ketika tidak dapat memenuhi kebutuhan sosial dan emosionalnya. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui pengaruh loneliness terhadap adiksi media sosial pada remaja pengguna TikTok, dengan metode penelitian kuantitatif dengan desain kausalitas. Alat ukur yang digunakan adalah UCLA Loneliness Scale Version 3 untuk mengukur variabel loneliness dan Social Media Disorder (SMD) untuk mengukur variabel adiksi media sosial. Sampel pada penelitian ini sebanyak 122 remaja pengguna TikTok dengan analisis data menggunakan regresi logistik biner yang menghasilkan nilai signifikansi 0.000<0.05 yang menggambarkan loneliness memiliki pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap adiksi media sosial pada remaja pengguna TikTok dan R square .177 menunjukan bahwa loneliness berkontribusi sebanyak 17.7% terhadap adiksi media sosial. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa loneliness merupakan salah satu faktor yang memicu adiksi media sosial pada remaja pengguna TikTok di Kota Bandung, sehingga perlu diterapkan strategi untuk mengatasi kesepian dan mendukung penggunaan media sosial yang sehat.
