Hubungan antara Work-Life Balance dengan Kepuasan Kerja pada Medical Representative di Kota Bandung

Abstract. Job satisfaction have a very important role in helping organizations understand their employees reactions to their work and the behavior impacts that will occur in the future. Jobstreet survey (2014) involving 17.623 employees in Indonesia shows a high level of job dissatisfaction at 73%, primarily due not having work-life balance. Medical representative promote pharmaceutical products to doctors under high work pressure and mobility demands, often face situations where they have to work beyond formal working hours can sacrificing personal time. This can lead to resignation, reluctance to complete tasks, increased absenteeism, and even turnover. The purpose of this study is to determine the relationship between work-life balance and job satisfaction among medical representative in Bandung City. Method of this study is quantitative correlational with a sample of 100 medical representative in Bandung City. This study use work-life balance scale from Fisher et al. (2009) adapted into Indonesian by Gunawan et al. (2019) and job satisfaction scale from Luthans (2006) developed by Setyawan and Tobing (2022). The results show a significant positive relationship between work-life balance and job satisfaction with a significance value of 0.000 (<0.05) and a Pearson correlation coefficient of 0.506. This indicates the higher work-life balance, the higher job satisfaction, and vice versa.
Abstrak. Kepuasan kerja memiliki peran sangat penting dalam membantu organisasi memahami reaksi karyawannya terhadap pekerjaan yang dilakukan beserta dampak perilaku yang akan terjadi di masa mendatang. Survei Jobstreet (2014) kepada 17.623 karyawan di Indonesia menunjukkan tingkat ketidakpuasan kerja tergolong tinggi sebesar 73%, terutama disebabkan oleh tidak memiliki work-life balance. Medical representative mempromosikan produk farmasi kepada dokter dengan tekanan kerja dan mobilitas yang tinggi seringkali menghadapi keadaan harus bekerja di luar jam kerja formal yang dapat mengorbankan waktu pribadi, sehingga mengakibatkan pengunduran diri, malas menyelesaikan pekerjaan, absensi yang meningkat, bahkan turnover. Tujuan penelitian ini guna mengetahui hubungan antara work-life balance dengan kepuasan kerja pada medical representative di Kota Bandung. Metode penelitian yang digunakan yaitu kuantitatif korelasional dengan sampel sebanyak 100 medical representative di Kota Bandung. Penelitian ini menggunakan skala work-life balance dari Fisher et al. (2009) yang telah diadaptasi ke dalam Bahasa Indonesia oleh Gunawan et al. (2019) serta skala kepuasan kerja dari Luthans (2006) yang dikembangkan oleh Setyawan dan Tobing (2022). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan terdapat hubungan positif yang signifikan antara work-life balance dengan kepuasan kerja memperoleh nilai signifikansi sebesar 0.000 (<0.05) dan nilai korelasi Pearson sebesar 0.506. Artinya semakin tinggi work-life balance, maka kepuasan kerja semakin tinggi pula, begitu pun sebaliknya.
