Abstract

Abstract. Subjective well-being (SWB) is an individual's overall evaluation of their life. SWB is particularly crucial during adolescence, a period marked by complex physical, emotional, and social changes and the search for self-identity. This study examines family life components that contribute the SWB of junior high school students in Bandung City. Using a cross-sectional survey method, data were collected from 766 students aged 12–16 years (50.52% female, 49.48% male) through stratified cluster random sampling. Adolescents' perceptions of family life were measured using the Family-Life Item Scale from Children's World, SWB was measured using the Children's World Subjective Well-Being Scale 5 Items (CW-SWBS5). Linear regression analysis revealed that family life accounts for 37.6% of the variance in SWB. Key family life components contributing significantly (p < .05)  to SWB include family attention (ꞵ = .120; p = .007), enjoyable family time (ꞵ = .094; p = .042), a sense of security at home (ꞵ = .360; p = .000), and involvement in decision-making with parents (ꞵ = .140; p = .001). These findings highlight the critical role of emotional support and positive family interactions in enhancing adolescents' SWB.
