Studi Deskriptif Beban Pengasuh pada Ibu yang Memiliki Anak Penderita Kanker
Abstract
Abstract. This study aims to examine the level of caregiver burden among mothers caring for children with cancer at Rumah Singgah in Bandung City. The complex and intricate nature of pediatric cancer care positions mothers as the primary caregivers for their ill children, as they are perceived to provide extensive care. They assist with daily activities, offer emotional support, manage healthcare, coordinate care, and participate in decision-making. A review of the literature indicates that caregivers generally experience psychological, social, physical, and financial challenges due to caregiving responsibilities. This research employs a quantitative approach with accidental sampling techniques, involving 110 mothers who are serving as caregivers for their children and residing at Rumah Singgah in Bandung City. The measurement tool used is the Zarit Burden Interview 22-Item. The results show that 39 mothers are at a minimal/no burden level, 49 mothers are at a mild-to-moderate burden level, 19 mothers are at a moderate-to-severe burden level, and 3 mothers are at a severe burden level. These findings provide insights into the levels of burden experienced by mothers within the family caregiver population, specifically mothers as primary caregivers for their ill children.
