Studi Komparatif Friend Phubbing berdasarkan Gender

Abstract. The phenomenon of phubbing is rampant along with technological developments that increasingly dominate human activities, including in friendship relationships. Individuals prefer online interactions to ongoing offline interactions which are shown by focusing more on their smartphones. It was found that gender has a role in influencing phubbing behavior. The purpose of this study is to review the differences in friend phubbing based on gender. This study used quantitative methods by distributing questionnaires to 271 Z generation aged 19-28 years in Bandung City who fit the research criteria. Measurements were taken with the Generic Scale of Phubbing (GSP) to measure friend phubbing behavior. Data was obtained by distributing questionnaires through social media such as whatsapp, instagram and twitter. Data were analyzed using chi-square difference test with the help of JASP. The results showed that there was a significant difference in friend phubbing on gender with women having a higher tendency to do friend phubbing than men.
Abstrak. Fenomena phubbing marak terjadi seiring dengan perkembangan teknologi yang semakin mendominasi aktivitas manusia, termasuk dalam relasi pertemanan. Individu lebih memilih interaksi di online dibandingkan interaksi offline yang sedang berlangsung yang ditunjukkan dengan lebih fokus pada smartphone nya. Ditemukan bahwa gender memiliki peran dalam mempengaruhi perilaku phubbing. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengkaji kembali perbedaan friend phubbing berdasarkan gender. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif dengan menyebarkan kuesioner kepada 271 generasi Z yang berusia 19-28 tahun di Kota Bandung yang sesuai dengan kriteria penelitian. Pengukuran dilakukan dengan Generic Scale of Phubbing (GSP) untuk mengukur perilaku friend phubbing. Data diperoleh dengan menyebarkan kuisioner melalui media sosial seperti, whatsapp, instagram dan twitter. Data dianalisis menggunakan uji beda chi-square dengan bantuan JASP. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan signifikan friend phubbing terhadap gender dengan perempuan memiliki kecenderungan lebih tinggi untuk melakukan friend phubbing dibandingkan laki-laki.
