Abstract

Abstract. Loneliness can happen to anyone. Loneliness is not just the absence of other people, more than that, individuals need the social relationships they desire. Individuals who experience loneliness will look for other escapes to reduce their feeling of loneliness. Using smartphones is a coping strategy used by most students to reduce their feelings of loneliness. However, excessive use of smartphones will trigger individuals to experience nomophobia (No-Mobile Phone Phobia). This research aims to find out how close the relationship is between Loneliness and Nomophobia in Bandung Islamic University Students. The sampling technique in this research is quota sampling with a research sample of 390 students. The research design used is quantitative correlational using statistical analysis of the Spearman rank test. The measuring instruments used are the UCLA Loneliness Scale Version 3 and NMP-Q (Nomophobia Questionnaire), each of which has been adapted into Indonesian. The results in this study show that there is a strong positive relationship between loneliness and Nomophobia, as shown by a correlation value of r = 0.544 and p < 0.01.

Abstrak. Kesepian dapat terjadi kepada siapapun. Kesepian tidak hanya sekedar tidak ada orang lain lebih dari itu individu memerlukan hubungan sosial yang diinginkannya. Individu yang mengalami kesepian akan mencari pelarian lain untuk mengurangi rasa kesepiannya. Penggunaan smartphone merupakan strategi coping yang digunakan oleh kebanyakan mahasiswa untuk mengurangi rasa kesepiannya. Tetapi dengan menggunakan smartphone secra berlebihan ini akan memicu individu mengalami kecenderungan nomophobia (No-Mobile Phone Phobia). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui seberapa erat hubungan antara Kesepian dengan Nomophobia pada Mahasiswa Universitas Islam Bandung. Teknik pengambilan sampel dalam penelitian ini yaitu quota sampling dengan sampel penelitian sebanyak 390 mahasiswa. Desain penelitian yang digunakan yaitu kuantitatif korelasional dengan menggunakan analisis statistik uji rank spearman. Alat ukur yang digunakan yaitu UCLA Loneliness Scale Version 3 dan NMP-Q (Nomophobia Questionnaire) yang masing masing telah diadaptasi kedalam Bahasa Indonesia. Hasil dalam penelitian ini menunjukan adanya hubungan kuat yang positif antara kesepian dengan Nomophobia ditunjukan dengan nilai korelasi sebesar r = 0.544 dan p < 0.01.
