Abstract

Abstract.  Skin aging is a complex biological process influenced by intrinsic and extrinsic factors, characterized by the appearance of wrinkles and a decline in skin elasticity, hydration, and firmness. Signal peptides are active ingredients currently undergoing extensive development due to their ability to regulate intercellular communication and stimulate skin tissue regeneration. This study aims to examine the characteristics, mechanism of action, dan evaluation parameters used to assess thhe effectiveness of signal peptides as anti-aging agents in cosmeceutical. This research employed a Systematic Literature Review method based on a PRISMA guidelines and the PICO framework. The findings indicate the signal peptides function by stimulating the synthesis of collagen, elastin, and other extracellular matrix components (ECM), there by contributing to improved skin structure wrinkle reduction, and enhanced skin elasticity and firmness. The most frequently used evaluation parameters include wrinkles, skin elasticity, hydration, transepidermal waterr loss (TEWL), and skin density. Overall, signal peptides show potential as effective anti-aging cosmeceutical ingredients for the development of evidence-based products.
