Abstract

ABSTRACT : Inflammation is a natural response of the body to infection or tissue damage, characterized by symptoms such as heat, redness, swelling, pain, and impaired function. Traditional anti-inflammatory drugs are often derived from plants. The Fabaceae family has been found to have potential anti-inflammatory properties. A systematic literature review was conducted to explore the anti-inflammatory activity of various plants from the Fabaceae family. The scientific articles were searched for in databases such as Google Scholar, Science Direct, ProQuest, SpringerLink, and PubMed. The selected articles underwent several stages of analysis to ensure accuracy and relevance. The assessment focused on plants from the Fabaceae subfamily, including Caesalpinoideae, Mimosoideae, and Faboideae, considering the plant parts used and the presence of compound groups with anti-inflammatory potential. The analysis of 22 scientific articles showed that 21 plants belonging to the Fabaceae family demonstrated anti-inflammatory properties, with the leaves being the most frequently utilized part. This is due to the presence of various compound groups, such as flavonoids and phenolics.
