Hubungan Obesitas dan Karies Gigi pada Usia 7-12 Tahun di RSUD Al-Ihsan Bandung
Abstract
Abstract. Obesity and dental caries are two significant health issues in children, intricately linked through high-sugar dietary habits and suboptimal oral health care practices . This study aims to analyze the relationship between obesity and dental caries in children aged 7-12 years at RSUD Al-Ihsan Bandung in 2023. The research employed an observational analytical design with a cross-sectional approach. A total of 258 children who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria were selected as study subjects. The findings revealed that children with obesity have a significantly higher risk of developing dental caries compared to non-obese children (P-value < 0.001). This relationship is influenced by factors such as high sugar intake, low physical activity, and inadequate oral hygiene practices. This study contributes to understanding the link between obesity and dental caries and highlights the importance of preventive interventions through education on healthy eating and routine dental check-ups.
