Abstract

Abstract. Nurses at RSUD Ciamis work under both shift and non-shift systems. Shift work may increase the risk of stress due to biological rhythm disruptions, high workload, and limited rest periods. This study aims to analyze the relationship between shift and non-shift work systems and the level of work-related stress among nurses in the inpatient and pediatric outpatient departments of RSUD Ciamis. The research employed an observational analytic design with a cross-sectional approach. A total of 35 nurses were selected using total sampling based on inclusion and exclusion criteria. Stress levels were measured using Robbins' Job Stress Scale, and the relationship between work systems and stress was analyzed using the Fisher Exact test. Among the 35 nurses studied, 27 (77%) worked under the shift system, while 8 (23%) worked non-shift. Most nurses experienced moderate work-related stress, with 20 nurses (57.1%) falling into this category. Bivariate analysis revealed a significant relationship between shift and non-shift work systems and stress levels (p = 0.011; p < 0.05). The findings indicate that shift work is significantly associated with higher stress levels among nurses at RSUD Ciamis. Work-related stress can negatively affect nurses' performance, including reduced concentration and service quality. This study recommends effective stress management and improved work system arrangements to enhance nurses' well-being and healthcare service quality.
