Abstract
Abstract. Menstrual hygiene management (MHM) is an effort of hygiene and health in adolescent girls during menstruation. Menstrual hygiene management has three aspects; aspects of menstrual knowledge, aspects of menstrual product and supporting facilities needed to manage menstruation effectively. MHM knowledge is important for adolescent girls to prevent reproductive health problems such as reproductive tract infections, cervical cancer, sexually transmitted infections, and has a negative impact on pregnancy outcomes. This study aims to describe the level of knowledge about Menstrual Hygiene Management among female students of Madrasah Tsanawiyah at Darussalam Kasomalang Islamic Boarding School. The study used descriptive method with a total of 185 respondents selected by total sampling. Data was collected through questionnaires regarding the characteristics of respondents and knowledge of menstrual hygiene management. The results showed that the majority of respondents were in early adolescence (91.4%) with a good knowledge level of 64.9%. However, there was still a lack of knowledge in several aspects, such as knowledge of the smell of menstrual blood (35.7%), the origin of menstrual blood (20.5%) and how to clean genital organs (67.6%). Based on the results of this study, it shows the importance of education about menstrual hygiene management from an early age and the provision of adequate facilities in the pesantren environment to support adolescent girls during their menstrual period.
