Studi Literatur: Peran Imunisasi BCG dan Riwayat Kontak dalam Perjalanan Penyakit Tuberkulosis Anak
Abstract
Abstract. This literature study was conducted to collect theories regarding the role of BCG immunization and contact history in the course of childhood tuberculosis (TB) disease. The method used was through a literature study that collected several previous studies and theories to determine the role of BCG immunization and contact history in the course of childhood TB disease. The results of this study indicate that BCG immunization plays a role in increasing the immune response to prevent pulmonary TB infection in children under 5 years of age with an effectiveness of less than 50%. The immune response generated by vaccination can also prevent the spread of TB infection to extra-pulmonary sites. Contact with TB patients can increase exposure to Mycobacterium tuberculosis (MTB) bacteria in children through droplets. Therefore, BCG immunization increases defense against TB infection, while a history of contact increases exposure to TB infection.
Abstrak. Studi literatur ini dilakukan untuk mengumpulkan teori mengenai peranan imunisasi BCG dan riwayat kontak dalam perjalanan penyakit tuberculosis (TB) anak. Metode yang digunakan adalah melalui studi literatur yang mengumpulkan beberapa penelitian terdahulu dan teori untuk mengetahui peranan imunisasi BCG dan riwayat kontak dalam perjalanan penyakit TB anak. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa imunisasi BCG berperan dalam meningkatkan respon imun untuk mencegah infeksi TB paru anak pada usia di bawah 5 tahun dengan efektivitas kurang dari 50%. Respon imun yang dihasilkan vaksinasi juga dapat mencegah penyebaran infeksi TB ke ekstra paru. Kontak dengan penderita TB dapat meningkatkan paparan bakteri Mycobacterium tuberculosis (MTB) pada anak melalui droplet. Oleh karena itu, imunisasi BCG meningkatkan pertahanan terhadap infeksi TB, sedangkan riwayat kontak meningkatkan paparan infeksi TB.
