Abstract

Production Suction Dredger (PSD) is one of the primary equipment used in offshore tin mining operations by PT Timah Tbk. The performance of the soil pump plays a crucial role in determining the efficiency of material transportation and washing processes. This study aimed to analyze the performance of the soil pump in supporting the washing installation on Production Suction Dredger 12 operating in Air Kantung Waters, Bangka Regency. The research employed a quantitative descriptive method using primary and secondary operational data. The analyzed parameters included material lifting velocity, slurry discharge, total pump head, pump suction power, pump rotational speed (RPM), and soil movement rate. The results indicate that the material lifting velocity reached 4.37 m/s, while the actual slurry discharge ranged from 1,955 to 2,311 m³/h. The calculated optimum pump speed was 445.420 RPM, whereas the actual operating speed reached 470.514 RPM. Although the actual soil movement rate exceeded the company target of 200 m³/h, the higher pump speed potentially generated slurry discharge exceeding the washing installation capacity. Therefore, optimizing pump RPM and suction power is recommended to improve washing efficiency and maximize tin recovery.
