his study is motivated by the need for innovative teaching methods that can enhance students’ motivation, understanding, and engagement in Islamic Religious Education (IRE) at the elementary school level. The purpose of this study is to analyze the implementation of the Game-Based Learning (GBL) method in fifth-grade Islamic Religious Education (IRE) classes at UPTD SDN 2 Cantigi Kulon, Indramayu Regency. The focus of the study includes teachers’ preparation in implementing GBL, the process of conducting game-based learning, the advantages and limitations of its implementation from pedagogical, time, and instructional resource perspectives, as well as its impact on students’ learning motivation, comprehension of the material, basic literacy and numeracy skills, and learning outcomes. This study employed a descriptive qualitative approach with an Input–Process–Output (IPO) analysis design. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, with research subjects consisting of the PAI teacher, the school principal, and fifth-grade students. The results of the study indicated that the implementation of Game-Based Learning (GBL) was systematically prepared by the teacher by aligning the games with basic competencies and learning objectives, considering the developmental characteristics of elementary school students, and integrating them into instructional materials. The learning process was carried out through stages of introduction, main activities, and closure, utilizing various games such as group quizzes, moral value cards, and role-play activities based on the stories of the Prophets.
