Abstract

Abstract.

Interpersonal communication is an important aspect in building effective working relationships, especially in the implementation of internship programs that involve direct interaction between supervisors and interns. In the implementation of the internship program at Rumah Kreatif Kota Bandung, obstacles to interpersonal communication are still found such as unclear work directions, minimal feedback, and sudden changes in tasks that have the potential to affect the work motivation of interns. This study aims to determine the relationship between interpersonal communication of supervisors and the work motivation of interns at Rumah Kreatif Kota Bandung. This study uses a quantitative method with a correlational study approach. Interpersonal communication variables are measured based on Joseph A. DeVito's theory of interpersonal communication effectiveness which includes openness, empathy, supportive attitudes, positive attitudes, and equality. Data collection techniques were carried out by distributing questionnaires to interns at Rumah Kreatif Kota Bandung. Data analysis used a correlation test to determine the level of relationship between research variables. The results of the study indicate that interpersonal communication of supervisors has a significant relationship with the work motivation of interns. All dimensions of interpersonal communication show a positive relationship with both intrinsic and extrinsic motivation of interns. The better the interpersonal communication carried out by the supervisor, the higher the work motivation of interns during the internship program at Rumah Kreatif Kota Bandung.
